Biography
Shlomo Margel is a professor at Bar-Ilan Institute for Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials (BINA), Department of Chemistry, Bar-Ilan University, Israel. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Materials Science, at the Weizmann Institute, Israel. He completed his postdoctoral studies at the California Institute of Technology (CALTECH), Department of Inorganic Chemistry in 1977 and then served two years as a senior scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at CALTECH. He was a visiting scientist at DuPont, Central Research and Development in 1986-87, in 1992 at the Polymer Section, University of Ulm, Germany, in 1997 at the Department of Physical Electronics, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan and in 2005 at the Institute for Soldiers' Nanotechnologies at MIT. He joined the Chemistry Department at Bar-Ilan in 1987. Prof. Margel was also the Head of the National Committee for Chemistry in High School Education and the President of the Israel Chemical Society between 2006 and 2009. He was nominated by the Israel Academy of Sciences as chairman of the National Committee of Chemistry towards IUPAC. Prof. Margel is a polymer chemist whose main interest lies in the fields of polymers, biopolymers, colloidal chemistry, surface chemistry and biotechnology. He has published some 350 publications and has been awarded 40+ patents,.
Sayan Ganguly is a researcher at University of Waterloo, Canada. He pursued his postdoctoral research at Bar-Ilan University, Israel and obtained his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. His primary research interests include hydrogels, polymer nanocomposites, EMI shielding, magnetic nanoparticles, 3D printing, and conducting polymer composites. He has published more than 80 papers and chapters in international journals and books.
Poushali Das is a senior postdoctoral research fellow at McMaster University, Faculty of Engineering, Canada. Prior to this, she held a postdoctoral position in the Department of Chemistry, Bar-Ilan University, Israel. She completed her Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. She has received prestigious awards including DST INSPIRE Scholar Award (Government of India) and Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Award (European Commission). Her research interests include multifunctional luminescent quantum dots and applications in sensors, antioxidant properties and the biomedical field, polymer/quantum dot nanocomposites, MXene/polymer nanocomposites, and sonochemical synthesis of nanocomposites.
