eBook Cancellations

You have fourteen (14) days to cancel your eBook order, beginning the day after you place your order. This cancellation right applies only if you have not accessed or downloaded the digital content. If your eBook is faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied to you, please contact us via our customer services Contact Form.

Refund Process

If you are eligible for a cancellation, we will process your refund using your original payment method within 5-7 business days. For discounted orders, the refund will be for the discounted amount.

How to Request a Refund

To cancel your order and request a refund, please contact us via our customer services Contact Form.

Please include the following information in your request:

  • Your order number
  • Reason for cancellation

Important Notes

  • Refunds are only available for eBooks purchased directly from Routledge.com
  • If you purchased your eBook from a third-party vendor (e.g., Amazon, Apple Books, or other retailers), please contact them directly for their returns policy

For consumers in Australia and New Zealand, your rights under applicable consumer guarantees are not affected. These guarantees apply regardless of the 14-day cancellation period or whether the eBook has been downloaded. If your eBook does not meet these guarantees and for example, are faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied, you may contact us via the Contact Form to address the issue.

Physical Books Returns and Cancellation

Cancellation

If your order has not been processed, we can cancel your order, please contact via our customer service Contact Form. If eligible, we will process your refund using your original payment method within 5-7 business days. Otherwise, you can return following our returns policy outlined below.

Return Process

You can return your book within fourteen (14) days, beginning the day after you receive it, following the steps below:

To initiate a return

  • Contact customer service via Contact Form
  • Include your order number and reason for return
  • Wait for return authorization and instructions
  • Once you’ve received the authorization and instructions, return the item immediately in its original condition

Unauthorized returns will not be credited or acknowledged, and we cannot be held liable for any financial losses resulting from unauthorized returns.

You must take reasonable care of the physical book while in your possession. Failure to do so may result in your refund request being rejected, in whole or in part.

Refund Process

We will process your refund using your original payment method. Please note:

  • Shipping costs are non-refundable
  • You are responsible for return shipping costs, where applicable, unless the item is damaged, defective, or incorrect. In the instance of a refund, this would include the shipping costs. In the event of a replacement, we would send this to you free of charge.
  • Refunds will be processed within 5-7 business days once we receive and inspect the returned item
  • We will not process a refund until we have received the physical book back, under point 4 in the returns process above

Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items

If you receive a damaged, defective, or incorrect item, please contact customer services within thirty (30) days of receiving your order via our customer services Contact Form.

For consumers in Australia and New Zealand, your rights under consumer guarantees are not affected. You may request a refund or replacement within a reasonable period of time if the item does not meet consumer guarantees.

Resellers

This Returns and Cancellation policy applies to individual consumer purchases only. Resellers and institutional buyers should contact their sales representative for applicable returns terms.

Australia and New Zealand

Where products do not meet consumer guarantees and for example are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or wrongly described, you choose between a refund or replacement.
