    Biography

    Abhishek Kumar is currently working as a Graduate Assistant (Ph.D. Scholar) in the J. Mike Walker ’66 Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, College Station. He received his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (2023) from the University of California Merced, USA, M.Tech. in Design Engineering (2016) from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India in 2016, and Bachelor of Engineering degree (honors) in Mechanical Engineering (2014) from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal. He has worked as an Assistant Professor at Jabalpur Engineering College, Jabalpur (2018-2020), Galgotias University, Greater Noida (2017), and Parul University, Vadodara (2016–2017). He was a summer visiting researcher at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (2018). He qualified GATE-2014 with 99.25 percentile in 2014 and was awarded GATE fellowship by the Government of India. His M.Tech. thesis was based on the investigation of nano-wear in Mg-based composites in collaboration with National University of Singapore, Singapore. He has a very keen interest to work on the tribological characterization of interacting surfaces. He has experience of more than eight years as an Assistant Professor and a Graduate Student Researcher to work with tribological systems, and their surface and wear characterization. He has gained hands-on experience of working with sophisticated experimental equipment in the past eight and half years and has utilized his experimental skills to successfully complete more than ten research projects with reputed industrial partners such as Chevron Corporation, SpaceX, Chevron-Phillips, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, etc. and academic collaborators such as National University of Singapore, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, California State University Chico, Illinois State University Normal, etc. He has utilized his exposure to demanding and challenging projects by publishing four peer-reviewed articles in peer-reviewed journals and presenting his work in five international conferences and publishing articles in two conference proceedings. He has worked as Book Editor and Book Proposal Reviewer for CRC Press, Taylor & Francis USA, and reviewed two book proposals, edited one book and authored six book chapters. He has enthusiasm to learn about the advanced research and he frequently volunteers as a peer-reviewer for more than six high impact journals (Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (IF=17.6), Lubricants (IF=3.584), Journal of Composites Science (IF=3.3), Tribology Transactions (IF=2.056), Inorganic Chemistry Communications (IF = 3.8), and Materials Today: Proceedings (CS = 3.2), and has been recognized as a Certified Peer Reviewer by Elsevier and MDPI. He has been selected as the Outstanding Reviewer twice by the Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (17.6 impact factor) due to his extraordinary contributions to the journal. He is also member of several professional societies such as The American Society of Mechanical Engineers – ASME, The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers – STLE, The American Ceramic Society – ACerS , The Association for Iron and Steel Technology – AIST, The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society – TMS, and ASM International – ASM. His research contributions have been acknowledged by STLE and he has been selected as the Technical Editor for Tribology & Lubrication Technology (TLT) magazine by STLE. He is also the recipient of several awards and honors, including 2024 Houston Section Scholarship by STLE. He is currently involved in the research which involves Tribology, Mechanical Behavior of Materials, Material Characterization, Mechanical Testing, Mechanical Properties, Microstructure, Nanomaterials, Material Characteristics, Materials and Materials Processing.

     

    Avinash Kumar is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITD&M) Kancheepuram, Chennai (An Institute of National Importance under Ministry of Education, Government of India). He is Visiting Assistant Professor at Stanford University, California, USA. Here, he is working on two projects i.e. (1) "theoretical and experimental quantification of uncertainty in enzyme kinetics parameter of CRISPR-Cas12 and Cas13" and (2) “desalination of water using novel microfluidic-based mixers in FCDI (Flow-electrode Capacitive Deionization)”. His research interests include Micro/Nanofabrication, Laser Machining, and Surface Engineering for Micro-fluidics, Bio-fluidics, MEMS/Micro/Bio-devices and Healthcare. He has published more than 14 international journals, 3 books, 12 chapters and 11 international conference papers. He is a guest editor in "MDPI: Bioengineering" (International Journal) and "JoVE" (Journal of Visualization Experiments). He is a review editor in "Frontiers in Lab on a Chip Technologies - Medical Diagnostics" (International Journal). He is a reviewer in ASME Journal of Solar Energy Engineering, Journal of Engineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, ASME Journal of Heat Transfer, Journal of Physics of Fluids, and many more.  He worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur until 2019. His post-PhD research experience includes Early Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He also worked as Assistant Professor (TEQIP faculty) in a World Bank and MHRD-(Government of India) project (NPIU) for a semester (2018) at THDC-Institute of Hydropower Engineering & Technology Tehri (Uttarakhand). He obtained his PhD from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 2018. He received his Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal in 2010 and M. Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India in 2012. He was Research Associate at the Bio-MEMS and Micro-fluidics Laboratory, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India, from August 2012 to November 2012. He worked as Research Associate with Prof. G. K. Ananthsuresh and Prof. Ashitava Ghoshal in Robert Bosch Centre for Cyber Physical system, Mechanical Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore for a year (2013). He qualified Indian Engineering Services in 2010. He qualify GATE-2010 with 98.20 % in 2010. His PhD thesis was nominated for best thesis award by the foreign and Indian examiner. He was selected in India-Sri Lanka youth exchange program 2017, organized by the Ministry of youth affairs and sports, Government of India. He was awarded DST-International Travel Fellowship in 2018 to visit Hawaii, USA. He is currently working on the various research projects by CSIR and DST-GOI. He have coordinated and organised many conferences and workshops at IIITDM Kanchipuram-Chennai, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur and AIIMS Delhi. He has delivered many talks in Webinars, Faculty Development Programs and workshops in the institute like (a) B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, Vandalur, Chennai, (b) Sathyabama Institute of Science & Technology, Chennai, (c) SRM University Chennai, (d) VIT Vellore and (e) Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, New Delhi. He has examined many M.Tech. and Ph.D. students at SRM University Chennai. He has guided more than 20 B.Tech., M.Tech. and Ph.D. students for their thesis.

    Ashwani Kumar holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Mechanical Vibration and Design. Currently serving as a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering (Gazetted Officer Group B) at the Technical Education Department of Uttar Pradesh, India, under the Government of Uttar Pradesh, he assumed this role in December 2013. Prior to this, Dr. Kumar worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Graphic Era University, Dehradun, India, with an NIRF Ranking of 55, from July 2010 to November 2013. With over 13 years of combined experience in research, academia, and administration, Dr. Kumar has undertaken various roles, including Coordinator for AICTE-Extension of Approval, Nodal Officer for PMKVY-TI Scheme (Government of India), Internal Coordinator for the CDTP scheme (Government of Uttar Pradesh), Industry Academia Relation Officer, Assistant Centre Superintendent (ACS) in the Institute Examination Cell, and Zonal Officer for conducting the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Diploma), and Sector Magistrate for State Assembly Election held in Uttar Pradesh. As an academician and researcher, Dr. Kumar serves as the Series Editor for five book series published by CRC Press (Taylor & Francis USA) and Wiley Scrivener Publishing, titled as Advances in Manufacturing, Design and Computational Intelligence Techniques, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Developments, Smart Innovations and Technological Advancements in Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Solar Thermal Energy Systems, and Computational Intelligence and Biomedical Engineering. Furthermore, he is the Guest Editor of a special issue titled "Sustainable Buildings, Resilient Cities, and Infrastructure Systems" in Buildings (ISSN: 2075-5309, I.F. 3.8). Dr. Kumar holds the position of Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Materials, Manufacturing and Sustainable Technologies (IJMMST, ISSN: 2583-6625) and serves as the Editor of the International Journal of Energy Resources Applications (IJERA, ISSN: 2583-6617). Additionally, he acts as a Guest Editor and Editorial Board Member for eight international journals and is a Review Board Member for 20 prestigious international journals indexed in SCI/SCIE/Scopus, including Applied Acoustics, Measurement, JESTEC, AJSE, SV-JME, and LAJSS. Dr. Kumar has a prolific publication record, with more than 100 articles in journals, book chapters, and conferences. He has authored, co-authored, and edited more than 30 books in Mechanical, Materials, and Renewable Energy Engineering. Holding three patents, he is recognized for his contributions to academia and research, earning the title of Best Teacher for excellence in both fields. Actively engaged in academic pursuits, Dr. Kumar has successfully supervised 15 B.Tech., M.Tech., and Ph.D. theses and serves as an external doctoral committee member of S.R.M. University, New Delhi. His current research interests encompass AI & ML in Mechanical Engineering, Smart Materials & Manufacturing Techniques, Thermal Energy Storage, Building Efficiency, Renewable Energy Harvesting, and Sustainable Mobility.
