This important book examines how nursing homes experienced the COVID-19 pandemic, how it affected the residents and staff, and how the industry can be reformed to better meet the demands of a similar health crisis in the future.

Data-led and richly illustrated with insightful charts throughout, the book begins with a thorough overview of what occurred in nursing homes during the pandemic, situated within a broader perspective of the regulatory system in which long-term care operates in different regions of the world. It then moves on to detail those issues that made managing nursing homes during the pandemic so challenging, before providing an insightful analysis into how nursing homes can reform their policies and practices ahead of a possible future pandemic.

Written by a gerontological nurse and Director of Nursing with over 30 years of experience in the long-term care industry, this book will interest researchers and practitioners across public health and nursing.
