Malin Åkebo
Malin Åkebo is a peace and conflict researcher at Umeå University. Her main research interests concern various aspects of war-to-peace transitions, including peace processes, peace agreements, and conflict transformation. Åkebo specialises in ceasefire agreements in intrastate armed conflicts and her research is primarily devoted to conflicts in the Asian region. Since 2017 she is a deputy director of the Varieties of Peace research program at Umeå University.
Biography
Malin Åkebo is a peace and conflict researcher at Umeå University. Her main research interests concern various aspects of war-to-peace transitions, including peace processes, peace agreements, and conflict transformation. Åkebo specialises in ceasefire agreements in intrastate armed conflicts and is the author of "Ceasefire Agreements and Peace Processes: A Comparative Study". She has also published on mediation, the media in times of war and peace, and disaster governance in war-torn societies. Her research is primarily devoted to conflicts in the Asian region, including Aceh (Indonesia), Sri Lanka, and Mindanao (Philippines). In 2015 Åkebo was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame, USA, which also serves as the international host institution for an ongoing post doc. Since 2017 she is one of the deputy directors of the Varieties of Peace research program at Umeå University.Education
