Thomas Mayer
I am Founding Director of the Flossbach von Storch Research Institute. Before this I was Chief Economist of Deutsche Bank Group. During my career I held positions at Goldman Sachs, Salomon Brothers and, before entering the private sector, at the International Monetary Fund and the Kiel Institute. I received a doctorate in economics from Kiel University in 1982. Since 2003 and 2015, I am CFA Charterholder and honorary professor at University of Witten-Herdecke, respectively.

Biography
Thomas Mayer is Founding Director of the Flossbach von Storch Research Institute.From January 2010 to June 2014, Thomas Mayer held the positions of Senior Advisor and Chief Economist of Deutsche Bank Group and was Head of DB Research. From 2002 to 2009, he worked as Chief European Economist and Co-head of Global Economics at Deutsche Bank in London.
Before this, Thomas Mayer held positions at Goldman Sachs (1991-2002) and Salomon Brothers (1990-91) in Frankfurt and London. Before entering the private sector, he worked at the International Monetary Fund (1983-1990) and the Kiel Institute (1978-1982). Thomas Mayer received a doctorate in economics from Kiel University in 1982. Since 2003 and 2015, he is CFA Charterholder and honorary professor at University of Witten-Herdecke, respectively.
Thomas Mayer has published numerous articles on international and European economic issues and frequently commented in the media. His book “Europe’s Unfinished Currency” (Anthem 2012) won praise from central bankers and policy makers.
