She works as a psychoanalyst in private practice and as an academic in the department of Philosophy at Universidad Iberoamericana in the intersection between psychoanalysis, gender studies and theories of corporeality.
Biography
Fernanda Magallanes is a psychoanalyst and an academic in the department of Philosophy at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. She works in the intersection between psychoanalysis, gender studies and theories of corporeality. Fernanda graduated from The European Graduate School as Doctor in Philosophy, Art and Critical Thought Summa Cum Laude with her dissertation directed by Judith Butler. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the Universidad Iberoamericana and holds a Masters degree in psychoanalysis from the Asociación Psicoanalítica Mexicana where she graduated with honors. Fernanda did a residency with Dr. Otto Kernberg at the Personality Studies Institute of the Weill Cornell Hospital and a fellowship in the Institute for Critical Social Inquiry at The New School for Social Research. She is the author of the book “¿Qué quiere una mujer?: Lo femenino en psicoanálisis” and "Psychoanalysis, The Body and the Oedipal Plot".Education
